Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy (HMCRA) is a public elementary school in San Francisco’s Castro District where every child is known, valued, and inspired to lead. Rooted in Harvey Milk’s legacy of equity and inclusion, we empower students to think critically, act with compassion, and make a difference.
The Parent-Faculty Club (PFC) brings families and educators together to strengthen our school community, support student success, and uphold the values of equity and inclusion at the heart of Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy.

We have daily bus service to and from the East side; conveniently located near Muni Castro station and 24/35 bus lines; easy car access for drop-off/pick-up.
Mission YMCA run on-site before and aftercare from 7:30am-6:30pm.
Students take cooking classes, Shotokan karate, ukulele, instrumental music (4-5th grade), dance, visual arts, PE, yoga/mindfulness, and computer science.
